Jock’s Road is said to be the oldest Right of Way in Scotland. It links Glen Clova with
Braemar and was an old drove road. The route starts at Auchallater by Braemar and follows good
tracks alongside the River Callater. Good views and level ground by the side of Loch Callater until the
climb out of the glen to the plateau and Crow Craigies. This section is very steep!! A long descent
into Glen Doll with good views to finish. |

From Glen Prosen a climb over Long Goat is made and the ridge is then followed onto Cat
Law, which offers superb views. The route then drops to Balintore Castle and Westerton and passes around
Macritch Hill to Backwater Reservoir. Stretches of this walk are on rough ground. |

A medium height walk on good tracks on open moorland, the climbing is steady
throughout with good views. The route passes Naked Tam and rises to Auld Darkney before dropping
down to forestry and the lochside track beside Glen Ogil Reservoir.

The walk follows a circuit around Glen Doll Forest and includes a visit to the Corrie
Fee National Nature Reserve, important for its alpine plants, birds and impressive geomorphology
landforms. The natural heritage of the NNR and forest will be revealed. |

From Dykehead, the walk goes via Piper’s Hillock to the Airlie Monument, a notable
local landmark with splendid views, and continues along a ridge to The Goal (459m), returning by a
different route through woodland and along the minor road in Glen Prosen, passing a monument to
Captain Scott, the Antarctic explorer who often visited Dr Wilson’s cottage in the Glen. |
