The new Scottish Tourist Board Star
System is a world first. Quality determines our star awards, not a
checklist of facilities. We've made your priorities our priorities.
Quality makes or breaks a visit. This is why it is the quality of
the welcome, service and hospitality; the ambience, comfort and condition
of the property and of course the food, which earns Scottish Tourist
Board stars, not the size of the accommodation or the range of available
facilities.
This easy to understand system
tells you at a glance the quality standard of every type of accommodation
in Scotland. We have a wide range of Hotels, Guest Houses, Bed &
Breakfasts (B&Bs) and Self Catering available, a selection of
Campus Accommodation and an increasing number of Inns, Lodges, Serviced
Apartments, restaurants with rooms and International Resort Hotels.
Each property is visited every
year by the Scottish Tourist Board inspectors to assess them for
the standards you can expect.
| Visitor attractions are graded for
the standard of the visitor services they provide: |
Camping and Caravan parks are inspected for the quality
standard of the facilities and services on offer. Their quality
standards range from one tick (acceptable standard); up to 5 ticks
( excellent standard).
Caravan Holiday Homes for hire of the highest quality
standards are recognised by the Thistle Award. Individual Caravan
Holiday Homes for hire are also inspected.
A quality service for walkers and cyclists is acknowledged
by our Welcome Schemes.
Establishments with a concern for the environment
can take part in our Green Tourism Business Scheme and their efforts
to operate in an environmentally friendly way are graded Bronze,
Silver or Gold.
Visitors with disabilities can be sure that the accommodation
matches their requirements by looking for the Scottish Tourist Board
access assessment which gives guidance on whether wheel chair access
is possible and, if so, whether it is Assisted or Unassisted access. |
