The beautiful Georgian House, overlooking the Montrose Basin, is one of the most original houses designed by William Adam. It was built in 1730 for David Erskine, Lord Dun and still contains many mementoes of his family. Outside, the house has an elegant and restrained air but inside is rich baroque plasterwork and sumptuous
furnishings. In the grounds are courtyard
buildings, a Victorian walled garden, children’s adventure trail, icehouse and fine parkland. The courtyard includes a handloom weaving workshop, a well stocked NTS shop, and the Angus Crafters shop. The elegant Café Dun serves home baked cakes, lunches and afternoon teas.
