The ancient market town of Brechin stands on the banks of the River South Esk. At the heart of the town is Brechin Cathedral with a classic example of an 11th Century Round Tower - one of only two such towers on the Scottish mainland.
The legacy of the Picts is still much in evidence at Pictavia, a purpose-built visitor attraction that celebrates the culture and heritage of this ancient people.
Pictavia is set in the beautiful countryside park at Brechin Castle Centre, a child friendly centre that offers visitors an ornamental lake, a narrow gauge railway, and a specially developed nature trail.
During the summer, the heritage Caledonian Railway makes its regular Sunday journey between the Victorian Brechin Station and Bridge of Dun four miles away.
