The beautiful village of Edzell is described as the "jewel in the crown of Angus". Enter via the 19th Century Dalhousie Arch and look out for the spectacular ruin of Edzell Castle (17thC), which stands at the approach to Glen Lethnot.
The square tower is the most notable feature of the beautiful walled Renaissance Garden, known as the Pleasance.
The chequered arrangement of blue and white lobelia in the wall recesses reflects the heraldic colours of the Lindsays, and the dwarf box hedge borders are cut to give the family mottoes. It is one of Scotland's unique sights, providing a riot of colour in the summer.
Enjoy a riverside walk through spectacular scenery from Gannochy Bridge to the Rocks of Solitude, where salmon leap to reach their spawning ground. Have a picnic at one of the popular spots - Edzell Muir or Pirner's Brig.
