| The river North
Esk cuts a stunning, deep track through Glen
Esk - the longest of the Angus Glens. As the
road takes you to Loch Lee in the eastern
Grampian or Benchinnan Mountains, see Mount
Keen rising over 3000m.
At the head of the Glen, a delightful folk
museum - the Retreat - offers visitors a
breathing space to explore handicrafts and
artefacts from bygone times.
Today, a stone crown at Queens Well in
Glen Esk stands as a memorial to Queen Victoria,
who greatly enjoyed exploring these hills
from her Highland home at Balmoral.
